"The People's Pride" is the working title of my current novel. The idea came from a short story I was working on. It transformed during NanoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in November and I'm currently in the editing stage. The plan is to finish the main edits by the end of May.
Abeytu, Paytah and their friends are misfits in a harsh world that has been overrun by the Nukpana Mukki, formerly human children who have become zombies. The group of friends are not accepted by the humans in control or by the Tiwahe Waneta who are the shapeshifting family of leopards to which they were born. They find shelter with the Takoda clan led by Delsin who strives for peace between humans and the Tiwahe Waneta.
When tragedy tears their world apart, Abeytu infiltrates a group of human freedom fighters and Paytah is forced to join the Muata, a group of rogue leopards. As they fight for peace they uncover devastating secrets about the Nukpana Mukki and their own heritage which will change their world forever.
