I started making my Gates of O'brillin steampunk jewelry last year for my Halloween costume. I immediately fell in love with it. I've always been fascinated with anything mechanical, especially clocks but I've been afraid to take things apart. You know, just in case I couldn't put it back together. Well now I can pull apart watches and use them to create something new and different. I can buy bags of parts but it's so much fun actually taking apart the stuff myself.
So far 2 local shops have had enough faith in me to give me shelf space. The wonderful Portfolio Art Gallery in Five Points and a cute little antiques store called Ivy House on Two Notch across from the Spring Valley Antique Mall. There is a shop in Camden that is interested but I won't jinx it and say which one until it's a done deal.
I've also been selling on Etsy - http://www.etsy.com/shop/drybranchranch
If you have never been to Etsy, you have to check it out. It is a crafters dream. It's full of supplies, vintage items and all sorts of handcrafted goodness. Plus it supports small businesses.
